Bush loses steam.
Columnist Michael Ledeen detects a President that has lost the momentum he had. Where is the spokesman for freedom as, for example, Iranians are thrown in jail for dissenting on Internet sites? For not having a real right to vote? (*)
Democrats outside of the George Soros and Howard Dean sphere of influence have a new opportunity. As Ledeen reports, President Bush has failed to articulate a clear definition of just whom we are fighting in this Global War on Terrorism. Define the enemy, and look more serious on foreign policy and the military than does the President. A 2008 contender should take the initiative now.
Many have suggested the enemy be termed “militant Islamists,” or somesuch. That’s a mouthful. I would suggest “Jihad Nazis” instead.
