<description>Ron Reagan will speak at the convention tonight on the subject of stem cells.

Scientists should be allowed to do their job within ethical constraints. Everything that embryonic stem cells can do, adult stem cells can do as well. Adult stem cells can be used without any ethical problems, because informed consent for their taking and use can be secured from the adult human beings that agree to be donors.

Adult stem cell research does not destroy any organism. Embryonic stem cell research destroys human embryos. Embryonic stem cell research will create an overwhelming economic incentive to create human embryos purely for medical research purposes. Creating human embryos purely for medical research is, in my opinion, comparable to the work of Dr Mengele, the Nazi doctor.

Christopher Reeve and others deserve the best medical research.

The case is clear. We should support ethical science, including research on &lt;i&gt;adult&lt;/i&gt; stem cells.

Posts on this site on the stem cell topic, including one on Ron Reagan and stem cells, is at:

<description>I apologize for threading here on an off topic subject, but I was wondering whether stem cell research is being discussed this week at the convention.

I know that Congressman Peter Deutsch introduced a bill into congress that would lift the ban on federal funding for this form of in vitro research that President (hopefully not for too long) Bush introduced three years ago. If anyone is interested, visit the website below to urge President Bush to allow scientists to do thier job.
